A few things that I love. . .

Because it is Valentines Day, I thought I would share a few things that I love.
Parker
It made my day when he got in the car after his Preschool Valentine Party and handed me one of the valentines out of his bag.  "Mom, this is for you.  It says I love ya."  Talk about the moments that warm your heart.  I love my little guy.
Connor
Who, while watching Dora the Explorer with me tried to tell me he loved me in Spanish.  Instead of saying 'Te Amo' (which when Dora said it, it kind of sounded like Dee-ah-mo)
he said "Mom, damn you."   Not to worry.  I wasn't offended.  I did, however, get a good laugh out of it.  Thanks buddy, and I love you too.
My Sweetheart
Who brought home flowers as a surprise the night of my book club to jazz up the table (they looked great!?,  and also got me a very thoughtful gift for Valentines Day even though it is his birthday and he made me promise I wouldn't buy him anything this year because he is heading somewhere sunny to golf.  (Have fun on your golf trip Honey!)

For my sweetheart who is one of the most thoughtful and helpful people I know.   He is always thinking of how he can use his talents and skills to help others.  I appreciate the example of service he sets for my children.

For my sweetheart who is a perfect balance to my personality and life.  Thanks for helping me keep it all together.  I couldn't do it without you.  I still believe that I am a stronger and better person because you are in my life.

And finally, for my sweetheart that is probably totally mortified at this gushing blog entry about him.  (He hates having attention drawn to him.)  However, I want to thank him from the bottom of my heart for the blessing and joy he is in my life.
I love you!
Happy Birthday!!!

Blogging Overload

Okay, okay, I know I just posted 4 entries at once.  What can I say, we've had a fun week.  At least they are all short.  Enjoy!

Happy Birthday to YOU!

My sweet little boy turn 4 last week.  I can't believe how big he is getting.  He has really grown up during this last year.  He is so witty (even at 4) and is always making me laugh.  He is bouncy and fun.  Some of his favorite things are race cars, jumping, running, Mokie, his scooter, and eating lots and lots of strawberries.  We love you buddy!  Happy Birthday!!!

Career Advice

I asked Parker what he wanted to be when he was a grown up.
He said, "I don't want to be a grown up.  I want to be a race car driver."
Connor says, "You can be a grown up AND be a race car driver too.  Mom and Dad are grown up and they do other stuff  too.  Like Mom. . . . . . Well, she doesn't do anything , but Dad.  Dad goes to work."
I had to laugh through my annoyance.  But then I considered for a brief moment what would happen if I really didn't do anything.  Say goodbye to clean clothes, breakfast, lunch, and dinner!  However, I am really grateful that they realize that Dad works hard at to provide all of the things we enjoy.  Thanks Honey!!!

Embarrassed

Today, Parker and I had to go to PetsMart to buy food for Mokie.  When we pulled into the parking lot Parker saw a couple walking their dog into the store.
  Parker exclaims to me,
"How EMBARRASSING Mom!!!
We forgot to bring our dog."
I had to laugh out loud.  I wonder if he'll still think this embarrassing in his teenage years.  (I am sure that I will have found plenty of other things to embarrass him about by then.)

"Sixth" Challenge

My good buddy Amanda invited me to participate in the "Sixth" Challenge.  (Sorry it has taken me a week or so to get it posted.)  I believe Parker took this picture.  As you can see, I am sitting with by back to the camera.  Totally oblivious that one of my children has "found" the camera again.  I know it is kind of a silly picture, but I kept it because this is what Parker's life is about right now.  Cars, cars, and more cars.  He found a show about car repair and post accident body work today on PBS and watched the whole darn thing.   It wasn't even close to being tailored to 4 year olds, but he loved every minute of it.

Now, it is your turn.  I am challenging:
Chrissie
Megan
Anika
Brooke
Rachel
Kerry
Here's how you play.  Go to your sixth folder.  Choose your sixth picture.  Post it on you blog and tell us about it.  Thanks for playing!

Dreaming of Spring

Okay, the snow is always fun at first but now my inner gardener is dreaming of spring.  I have just finished my 3rd landscaping and flower book in the last two weeks and I am dying to dig in the dirt.  I have also made my comprehensive list of perennials that I would like to plant in my front yard this year, as well as a list of all the things I need to do to get my flower beds ready for planting.  I know I am a bit of a garden geek, but I can't wait for spring.  It is invigorating to see the tulips and daffodils start to peek out of the ground.  It is a sign of all of the fun to come.  Unfortunately that is still weeks away.  I guess I'll just have to keep dreaming, and reading, and planning.
