Pinecones, pinecones EVERYWHERE!

The other day Connor and Parker found an exciting discovery.  While playing outside, they decided to ride their scooters down two houses to explore the "green park."  The green park is less of a traditional park, and more of a grassy area with a few surrounding trees that take up the space underneath the nearby telephone wires.

After about 10 minutes Connor rushed back to the house to get two plastic bags to carry home their treasures.  To my surprise, they had found hundreds of pine cones.  By the time they were done collecting them all, we had about 3 shopping bags full of pine cones.  Who would have thought that June would be a great time for hunting pine cones?

Both boys assured me that all of the pine cones they collected were off of the ground.  We have yet to get a final count of exactly how many pine cones they collected, but it is a bunch!  I would bet that they collected between 200 to 300!
Connor was obviously proud of their find.  I have no clue what we are going to do with them all, but at the moment both boys are quite attached to their treasures.

When I asked them what we should do with them Parker told me we should save them forever and ever until they are all grown up.  Connor agreed that we should save them until they were grown ups, and then suggested that when they were grown ups they could sell them for a fortune!

I don't think we will be making a fortune any time soon on pine cones, but for now it was a very fun discovery.  Currently, family member getting the most satisfaction out of the plethora of pine cones is the dog.  He thinks they make great bones!
